Variable-Displacement Spar Buoy (VDSB)
TendOcean VDSBs are designed to provide flotation for taut longline arrays. They offer significant advantages over more conventional types of buoyancy:
- Aluminum construction provides long, maintenance-free service.
- Galvanized steel damper plate reduces vertical motions and provides stability.
- The small waterplane reduces wave excitations into the farm system.
- The buoyancy can be adjusted to maintain optimal depth of the crop.
- By venting air from all buoys, the farm can be submerged during storms.
- Permanent flotation ensures upright orientation when lowered to the seabed.
- Standard diameters range from 12” to 30” in 1” increments.
- Standard lengths range from 12’ to 24’ in 4’ increments.
Anchors
TendOcean offers drag-embedment anchors in a range of sizes ad designed to provide secure holding power and serviceability in the offshore farm setting. Their advantages over traditional anchor choices include:
- Welded-steel construction for weight and strength.
- Fluke and shank angles are optimized for quick setting in sand or mud.
- Easy to retrieve or reset to provide desired system pretension.
- Steel thickness from 1/2” to 1”. Weights from 200 to 1,600 pounds.
- Available in base steel, painted, or hot-dip Galvanized.
UHMW Fittings
TendOcean has developed splice thimbles that are light-weight and maintenance-free. Made of tough, Ultra-High Molecular Weight (UHMW) Polyethylene UHMW they are kind to ropes. We offer the following products:
- Circular thimbles for line from 3/4” to 2” diameter.
- Six-part deadeye tensioner for post-install tension adjusting.
